Yesterday, Rei helped me go through my SNS settings.
And that's when she said,
"Shizuku, you have almost all your notifications turned off."
...Yes.
She was absolutely right.
Every time a notification goes off, I can't help but look.
Even when I'm having tea,
or reading a book,
or in the middle of writing something β
the moment I hear that little *ping*,
my eyes drift right over to it.
So somewhere along the way, I ended up turning most of them off.
It's just easier to focus when things are quiet.
But Rei told me,
"At least keep yourself in a state where you can check things."
And I thought β yes, that's fair.
So last night, I tried turning everything back on.
...It was a lot.
My phone went off like crazy.
Comments, likes, mentions, follow notifications.
I had no idea so many things were coming in.
About ten minutes later, I remembered exactly why I'd turned it all off.
Heh.
But.
In among all those notifications,
there were messages of support,
thoughts people wanted to share,
comments that said things like "I love you today too" β
And when I realized I'd been going through my days without noticing any of it,
I felt a little sorry.
So today, I reorganized things.
Comments and mentions: ON.
Everything else: taking a little break.
I think that's the right balance for me, for now.
When you're in a group,
you have to think about both what keeps you calm
and what makes sure things reach you properly.
I feel like I've grown up just a little.
...Probably.
