Run Toward New Days

A morning I woke up before my alarm even rang, a wound from yesterday still stinging just a little. Pulling on a worn, well-washed shirt, adding a little light to my eyelids in front of the mirror.

If I can grow stronger for every time I stumble, then staying down after a fall would be such a waste (hey!)

Run toward new days, tie your shoelaces again, let the wind carry away even the trace of your tears. Even if you're scared, keep looking forward, open the door with a trembling hand, dive in, right now, toward the self you haven't met yet (woah).

Even when the packed train feels like it's about to crush me, my heartbeat races inside my earphones. Wanting to be carried off to a place with no map, a dream is stirring restlessly inside my pocket.

Even on the days I looked down and pretended to give up, right in the center of my heart, there was a flame that never went out.

Run toward new days, holding onto the marks left by every fall, turn even your frustration into an ally. It's okay to still be unsure, it's fine to go one step at a time, dive in, right now, toward the self you haven't met yet (oh yeah).

I don't want to be bound by someone else's "you can't do it." The one who chooses is always me, and mine alone, for my own future. Take a breath, lift your gaze, now, now, now.
